Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to the case
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
- Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system
- Assist lawyers by preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings
- Help attorneys prepare for depositions and trials
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and maintain case progression
- Manage deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures
- Assist with case settlements and monitor and obtain affidavits and other formal statements that may be required
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor’s degree in another field with a certificate in paralegal studies
- Paralegal certification (preferred but often not required)
- Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other office software
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
